Bylaw Corner - SCRD OCP engagement Get your say in the SCRD Offical Community Plan update

The Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) which covers 5 areas on the coast: West Howe Sound, Ephinstone, Roberts Creek, Halfmoon Bay and Pender Harbour, is currently in the second phase of engagement on its Official Community Plan (OCP) Renewal Project — an opportunity for residents to help shape how our region grows and evolves in the coming decades.

The OCP sets out long-term planning priorities related to housing, land use, environmental protection, infrastructure, and community character. While the plan takes time to update, public input now will help guide these decisions.

There are multiple ways to participate:

• Visit the SCRD’s OCP engagement hub to read materials, view presentations, and complete the community questionnaire: letstalk.scrd.ca/ocp-renewal.
• Provide feedback through the online survey, open through March 31.
• SCRD has hosted pop-up engagement events in local communities (e.g., Gibsons, Halfmoon Bay, Roberts Creek, Madeira Park) — and more workshops are expected to be announced as the project continues.
Input at this stage goes toward shaping draft growth areas, policy directions, and how neighbourhoods may evolve in the future.

We’ll continue to share updates as more engagement opportunities are scheduled.
